Elephants Won 2:1Now at the end of this project we reached our goal by learning how to cook. We each improved in different ways. Kyleigh and Harmony won our last round which was spagetti and it put them in the lead. The judges said it was very flavorful and smelt good. While Peyton and Paola's spagetti was lacking flavor but was cooked all the way. We chose to do a Cooking Competition since we are all competitive and thought it would be a fun idea that would help us learn to cook.

We have been working on our Genius Hour presentation for a while but today we thought we would fix the text and design of the slides to make them less cluttered and boring. We chose a theme, font color, and font size for the slides. Harmony has already put most of the information in the slides so after we decided how the slides were going to look we started to practice our presentation.
Since this is a short week and we are busy with our families for Thankgiving we just are getting the ingredients and hoping to cook next week. Paola and Kyliegh are finish editing the videos to post on Youtube while Harmony is already caught up with our final presentation. Peyton wrote this weeks blog. We didn´t do much this week but we hope to get a lot done next week.
This week we are figuring out where we are cooking and what we are going to cook. The pigs are cooking chicken wings and cornbread while the Elephants are bbq chicken and mac & cheese. Peyton wrote the blog this week, Kyleigh and Paola edited the videos while Harmony worked on the presentation.
Score: Pigs-1 Elephants-2Peyton and Paola cooked their food last so their weren so many people at the stove. So while Kyleigh and Harmony were cooking their baked spagetti the Pigs made themselves some white chocolate covered oreos. It was going good at first and they tasted good then took a turn and Paola burnt the chocolate so we had to start over. The burnt chocolate This week the Pigs made rigatoni. Peyton defrosted and cooked the meat while Paola cooked the noodles and added spice to them, she then added the salsa to the meat. They lost because it had no flavor and the noodles were not cooked enough. This week the Elephants made baked spagetti. Kyleigh broke the noodles and then cooked them. Harmony cooked the meat and added sauce to it. They both layered the baked spagetti which included stacking the noodles, meat, and cheese on top of each other. While cooking we faced some problems like how Paola and Peyton could not figure out how to defrost the meat all the way so while they were trying to cook it because it was to hard so they used a potato masher so they could cook it easier. Kyleigh and Harmony had problems with the noodles sticking together when they were cooking them.
We are going to be cooking this weekend so we are figuring out the ingredients we need and what recipes we are going to use. The Pigs are making rigotoni and the Elephants are making baked spagetti. This week while Peyton was writing the blog Paola was editing videos for the youtube channel whil Kyleigh and Harmony were working on the presentation for the final grade.
This week Paola is catching up on editing her and Peyton's videos that will go on their Youtube channel. She is editing the videos from the first and second round. While Peyton is writing the blog for the week. Harmony is working on the presentation for the end of the project. She is talking about what we cooked for the rounds and who won. Kyleigh is figuring out what her and Harmony are cooking for the next round and putting the videos on the Youtube channel. Round 3 is the Italin round which Harmony and Kyleigh will be making spagetti. Peyton and Paola are making Italin pasta with tomato and peppers.
Score: Pigs- 1 point Elephants-1 pointThis week the Pigs made Halloween cupcakes. Peyton made the batter for the cupcakes and put the cakes in the oven. Paola decorated the cupcakes and came up with different styles for them. They struggled with putting the frosting in the bags to decorate the cupcakes and coming up with ideas to decorate the cupcakes. They lost this round because some cupcakes tasted bland and spongy while others were spongy and had to much frosting. Theirs: What it was supp This week the Elephants made a Pumpkin themed cake. They shared the amount of work, they decorated and made the batter together. They won because the cake was moist and tasted AMAZING. They had a cool decoration for the pumpkin on the cake. This is a idea they came up with on their own there is a picture of it is below. This week we also made a youtube video to watch the competition the link is below.
https://youtube.com/channel/UCOB88kpYwoHOh0sfI-qV6zQ Score: Pigs-1 Elephants-0This week we did the breakfast round. Peyton and Paola's team name is the Pigs and they made breakfast taquitos. Peyton made the sausage and wrapped two taquitos. Paola made all the eggs and wrapped two taquitos. They won this round but the judge said their eggs were a little salty. They need to work on getting all the ingredients before they start their cooking. The Pigs: What its suppose to look like: Kyleigh and Harmony team is named elephants and they made blueberry scones. Harmony poured in some ingredients, flattened out the dough, preheated the oven, and then cut the shapes out of the dough. Kyleigh poured in some ingredients, balled up the dough, and then cut some shapes out of dough. They lost and the judges said that their scones tasted like flour and blueberries. The judges said it was disgusting and tasted bland. The Turtles : What it was suppose to look like: While we were cooking we came across some problems. LIke when we would drop food the dogs would come and try to eat it or when we were cleaning up at had a flour fight so we had to clean the flour up after. We also didn't understand some of the words in the directions which led to the Elephants failure.
During week 3 we faced a few different struggles. One of the struggles we faced was how we could not figure out a time for all of us to meet up. Since we are all athletes we had practice almost everyday, which kept making us move the day we were going to meet up. Another sturggle we faced was when one of our group members got sick and another had to quarantine. This also made us push the day we were going to meet up.
